Samsung‘s Galaxy Note8 is the hottest phablet flagship out in the market right now thanks to its impressive camera, great specs, and unique aesthetic. However, there is one other thing that really makes this phone pop: Its incredible 18.5:9 aspect ratio display, which is now the best smartphone screen in the world according to DisplayMate.
You would think that Samsung would have just slapped on the same — and already great — screen from the Galaxy S8+. But not according to DisplayMate as the website states that Samsung has made further improvements from the Galaxy S8’s screen not just in OLED display hardware but also in a bunch of new display features and functions.
We already know that the screen is 20% larger than the Galaxy S8 but it is also 22% brighter than it too, achieving a staggering peak brightness of 1,200 nits which is a new record for smartphone displays. It also covers a full 100% of the DCI-P3 Colour Gamut and has a larger Native Colour Gamut than the Galaxy S8. Although Samsung doesn’t shout about it, the Galaxy Note8 is also certified by the UHD Alliance for Mobile HDR Premium which allows the smartphone to play UHD Premium content.
However, DisplayMate does note that you will need to leave it on Automatic Brightness to achieve the Note8’s maximum screen brightness. DisplayMate also notes that the new screen has enhanced performance modes, power saving modes, image processor, viewing angle, Always On-Display, Absolute Colour Accuracy and a whole bunch more.
Basically, it’s an awesome screen. So awesome, in fact, that this is the first smartphone screen to be awarded DisplayMate’s A+ grade.
