The Nokia 8 could be one of the first smartphones to run on Android O

Nokia will be launching its first Android flagship smartphone which is expected to be called the Nokia 8. We know they will be using the best hardware and Zeiss optics, but there’s also one more thing to look forward to and that’s the software.

The final name of Android O hasn’t been announced yet. Some are saying it’s Oreo while others are suggesting it could be called Oatmeal Cookie. Whatever the name is, the upcoming Nokia flagship was spotted on Geekbench running on Android 8.0.

It’s a sign that Nokia might be the first smartphone maker to run on the very latest Android even before the next Pixel 2 arrives. This shouldn’t be a surprise since the LG V20 was the first to launch with Android 7.0 Nougat and it was a month ahead of the Google Pixel.

The Nokia 8 is said to be launching on 16 August, which is a week before Samsung’s Galaxy Note8 event. It is expected to come with a Quad HD 5.3″ display and it will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor mated to 4GB of RAM. The Nokia 8 will also feature a dual-camera setup with Zeiss optics.
