Huawei’s answer to OPPO and vivo selfie-centric smartphones is coming to Malaysia very soon with the arrival of the nova 2 Plus. The price of this 20MP selfie camera smartphone has been revealed and it could go on sale as early as next week.
The nova 2 Plus was spotted on their Merdeka Promo leaflet with a retail price of RM1,999. This device will compete with the OPPO R9s at RM1,798 as well as the vivo V5 Plus which is now going for RM1,699. No availability dates were mentioned but you should be able to get it on 11 August when the new Merdeka Day promo starts.
To recap, the nova 2 Plus features a 5.5″ Full HD display that’s encased in a full metal unibody exterior. It runs on a Kirin 659 processor mated to 4GB of RAM and has 128GB of on-board storage. Showing off its “selfie-superstar” credentials is a 20MP front camera that comes with a host of beautification features. Meanwhile, the back gets a dual-camera setup comprising a 12MP main camera and a secondary 8MP shooter for telephoto. The nova 2 Plus weighs 169g with a thickness of 6.9mm.
Powering the nova 2 Plus is a 3,340mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C. It also gets a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack as standard. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 5.1 that’s based on Android 7.0. As part of the Merdeka promo, Huawei is bundling the nova 2 Plus with a phone cover and a glass bottle worth RM199.
