Huawei’s selfie-centric Nova 2 Plus is coming to Malaysia in August

Huawei wants to up its selfie game with their new nova 2 series. Now Huawei Malaysia has confirmed that their new selfie-centric smartphone is coming to our shores next month.

In their latest teaser, Huawei will be bringing their larger Huawei nova 2 Plus which will come with a larger 128GB of onboard storage. There will be 3 choices of colours – Graphite Black, Aurora Blue and Prestige Gold. The nova 2 Plus pricing and availability for Malaysia are yet to be confirmed but it should be revealed in the next few weeks to come.

To refresh your memory, the nova 2 series was launched a couple of months ago with a compact 5.0″ model and a larger 5.5″ plus version. The nova 2 Plus which is heading our way comes with a 5.5″ Full HD display wrapped in a full metal unibody design.

Powering the device is a mid-range Octa-Core Kirin 659 processor with 4GB of RAM. If the 128GB storage isn’t enough, it also accepts a microSD card in its hybrid dual-SIM slot.

Being a selfie-centric device, the nova 2 Plus gets a 20MP front camera while the rear comes with a dual-camera setup. Unlike its flagship series, the rear gets a 12MP main camera for normal shots and a secondary 8MP unit for telephoto.

Keeping the nova 2 Plus running is a decent 3,340mAh battery and it charges via USB Type-C. It also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack as standard. In China, the nova 2 Plus is priced at 2,899 CNY which is about RM1,838.

In case you missed it, the previous Huawei Nova Plus is now going for less than RM1,000. It isn’t a selfie-centric smartphone but it is a worthy Redmi Note 4 alternative as it has a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 16MP main camera with optical image stabilisation.
