Samsung’s next big thing, the Galaxy Note8 should be launching within the next few months. Many had anticipated its unveiling in August while some speculated it could be launched as late as September.
For those who can’t wait, we now have a clearer indication of the Note8’s launch and availability right from the very top. Malaysians could be getting the Galaxy Note8 as early as September.
The head of Samsung Mobile division, DJ Koh was in Taiwan recently and he had shared some important details of the next Galaxy Note. During the media session, he was reported to have mentioned that the Galaxy Note8 will be officially released at the end of August and first wave sales will start in early September.
Subsequent markets will be getting the Galaxy Note8 sometime later in October. No dates were mentioned but the global launch is likely to happen before IFA 2017 at a separate event in New York. Naturally, Samsung would want to release the Galaxy Note8 ahead of Apple’s new iPhone.
As Malaysia is a key market for Samsung Mobile, we can expect pre-orders to start shortly after its international unveiling. As a comparison, the Galaxy Note7 was launched on 2nd August 2016 and Samsung Malaysia had started accepting Galaxy Note7 pre-orders within a week.
Similar to last year’s release, the Galaxy Note8 is going to be a bigger version of its current Galaxy S8/S8+ but it is expected to come with Samsung’s first dual-camera system. The new Note8 is said to come with a slightly larger 6.3″ Infinity Display and it will be powered by the same Exynos 8895 processor as the Galaxy S8/S8+ that’s mated to 6GB of RAM. Similar to the Galaxy S8/S8+, the screen is taller thanks to its 18.5:9 display aspect ratio and the fingerprint sensor would be mounted at the back next to its camera module.
After an unfortunate Galaxy Note7 recall, this is definitely Samsung’s most important flagship product launch that comes with a productive S-Pen. It’s the phone that many Galaxy Note 4 and Note5 owners have been waiting for as a new replacement. Based on the pricing of its current S8/S8+ of RM3,299 and RM3,699 respectively, you can expect a higher price tag compared to its previous Galaxy Note7.
