Pavocomms introduces a new prepaid that also works as a digital wallet

Mcalls Y33 Prepaid

Pavocomms, the MVNO company that brought you the 100GB Tourist Prepaid has just introduced Mcalls and it’s another prepaid brand that targets the youth. Apart from providing essential voice, text and data services, Mcalls wants to change the way you use your prepaid with its new MMspot platform.

At time of launch, Mcalls come in a single Y33 plan that costs RM30 for a starter pack. It comes with 5GB of high-speed data, 33 minutes of voice calls and 33 SMS to all networks. For subsequent months, you’ll need to reload RM30 each month to enjoy the same amount of data, calls and SMS. First time users will also get a one-time RM2 extra airtime and 6 M-airtime for MMSpot purchases with the starter pack.

For excess usage, MCalls Y33 charges 15 sen/30 seconds for voice calls and 20 sen for each SMS. IDD calls are also available from as low as 15 sen/30 seconds.

If 5GB isn’t enough, there are booster packs that ranges from RM5 for 200MB for 3 days to RM25 for 1GB data that’s valid for 30 days.
In terms of coverage, Mcalls runs on Digi and users can enjoy high speed connectivity on their 4G+ network.

The key highlight for MCalls is its MMspot platform which is basically a mobile wallet. With the official app, you can use your smartphone to pay for bills or use it to make payments at their participating merchants. We are told that they are 2,000 partners that accepts MMSpot nationwide.

Unfortunately, Mcall uses a separate wallet for digital payments. To use MMSpot, users would first need to top up their MMSpot account via credit card or by direct banking. Another bummer is there’s no option to reload MMSpot using your existing prepaid credit. To make a payment, users can scan a QR code with their phone at a participating store.

Pavocomms aims to acquire more than 300,000 new subscribers this year with a targeted 20% coming from this new MCalls Y33 prepaid plan. To showcase its MMSpot platform, Pavvocomms has opened a digital lifestyle experience store at Sunway Pyramid where users can make their MMspot redemption.
