LG Q6

LG has just announced a new mid-range smartphone which is basically the “mini” version of its LG G6 flagship. Instead of giving it a “mini” moniker, the South Korean maker has introduced a new Q series lineup that also comes with a Full Vision 18:9 display aspect ratio. This offers a larger screen in a smaller footprint.

There are 3 models – Q6+, Q6 and Q6α. All of them have the same specs but they vary in terms of RAM and storage. It comes with a 5.5″ FullHD+ Full Vision display with a 2160×1080 pixels resolution. This pushes a respectable pixel density of 442 ppi. Surrounding the device is a durable 7000 series aluminium which LG says is one of the strongest materials used in aerospace industries.

Under the hood, the Q6 series is powered by a Snapdragon 435 processor. The base Q6α model comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage while the standard Q6 model comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. The highest option is the Q6+ which comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

For imaging, the rear gets a single 13MP main camera while the front comes with a 5MP selfie shooter with a 100 degree angle lens. All 3 models comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and it runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat with LG’s UX 6.0 interface. Unlike the LG G6, there’s no fingerprint sensor and dust/water resistance on the Q6 family.

The LG Q6 will be available in key markets in Asia starting next month, followed by Europe, Latin America and North America. So far there’s no pricing info yet and there’s a chance it might come to Malaysia in the next few months.
