The Huawei Watch 2 with 4G LTE will be available for purchase outright in Malaysia. At the moment, it is only offered on contract with a phone bundle thru Maxis, their exclusive telco partner.
The Watch 2 is officially priced at RM1,999 and it is currently going from RM78/month with a Huawei P10 bundle or RM133/month when paired with a Huawei Mate 9. The first batch of Huawei Watch 2 will be sold only through Maxis and Huawei Malaysia has plans to sell it later at their authorised stores and VMall.my online store. This is good news for those who just want the watch or are currently using a Huawei P10/Mate 9.
The reason why Huawei has partnered with Maxis is for their multi-sim one line feature since the Watch accepts nano-SIM cards. This means you can have two active SIM cards with the same number where incoming calls will ring on both your watch and smartphone. So, if you decide to take a jog, you can leave your phone behind and still be able to receive calls from your wrist.
This is Huawei’s 2nd generation Android Wear smart watch that runs on Android Wear 2.0. Compared to its previous model, the new Watch comes with a smaller 1.2″ AMOLED display with a 390×390 pixels resolution. Apart from 4G LTE connectivity, it also has support for WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC along with a 3-axis Gyroscope, Barometer, speakerphone and heart rate sensor.
The front gets a ceramic bezel and it comes with a rubber strap for a sporty look. For better all-weather usage, it also comes with IP68 dust and water resistance. Powering the Watch 2 is a 420mAh battery which is rated up to 2 days usage on a single charge. It is compatible for both iOS and Android but you do get more features when paired with an Android device. In case you’re wondering, you can use the Huawei Watch 2 without a SIM card and you can still use it for voice calls and SMS when paired with your smartphone.
