The Moto Z2 Play gets unboxed ahead of its launch

Lenovo will be unveiling its new Moto Z2 Play very soon but if you can’t wait, someone has already unboxed the full retail package of this new mid-range smartphone. The Moto Z2 Play replaces its current Moto Z Play and it retains the same modular design which supports their existing Moto Mods.

The specs are similar to what we’ve seen before. The Z2 Play gets a 5.5″ Full HD display like its current model and the processor is now upgraded from a Snapdragon 625 to a Snapdragon 626. For better multitasking and storage, it gets bumped up to 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage.

At the bottom of the screen, Lenovo still retains a front facing fingerprint sensor which now looks better with an oval button. For imaging, it gets a 12MP Dual AutoFocus Pixel camera with laser Auto Focus, while the front gets a 5MP camera. Looking at the photo above, it also comes with a dual-tone LED flash light for better lit selfies.

Probably the biggest downgrade is the battery. Instead of a larger 3,510mAh unit, the Z2 Play gets just 3,000mAh. At least, it is more than the originally listed 2,820mAh battery on China’s TENAA database. Also bundled is a TurboPower faster charger that connects via USB Type-C.

The Moto Z2 Play is expected to launch tomorrow for the Latin America market. We expect this device to come to Malaysia soon along with other Z2 models including the Z2 flagship and Z2 Force. The Moto Z2 flagship model could come with a dual-camera system.
