HTC will be unveiling a new flagship just 4 months after it revealed its new U series. Tentatively called as the HTC U 11, this new device will be announced next week on 16 May 2017.
Ahead of its big reveal, serial leakster @onleaks and 91Mobiles have released a rather detailed render which gives us a better view of the device.
As shown in this glossy red colour, the HTC U 11 will follow its current U series with a curved glass back surrounded by a metal frame. The design matches the earlier leaked photo by @evleaks and it comes with a smaller camera bump. Like the HTC U Ultra, it lacks a headphone jack so it relies on a USB Type-C port for all your audio needs.
While LG and Samsung are going for a near bezel-less display, the Taiwanese smartphone wants to differentiate itself with a “squeezable” phone. You still get your typical volume rocker and power button on the sides and the upcoming flagship is expected to come with a pressure sensitive side panel which adds a new layer of interaction that’s called Edge Sense. Interestingly, because of this new feature, the phone will be slopping downwards with the top being 9.2mm thick while the bottom portion is at 8mm.
From the visuals, it looks like it has a curved front glass but apparently it gets a flat 5.5″ Quad HD display. To recap on the purported specs, the HTC U 11 is said to be running on a top of the line Snapdragon 835 processor with a choice of either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and with either 64GB or 128GB of storage on board. The camera should be an improvement over its existing HTC U Ultra with a 12MP Ultrapixel 3 main shooter that now has a larger f/1.7 aperture. It also gets a front facing 16MP f/2.0 camera, a 3,000mAh battery and IP57 rated dust/water resistance.
