This is what you get with the Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-order bundle

Today is the day that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ — which is our current favourite flagship smartphone — officially goes on sale in Malaysia. For those who missed out on the pre-order and are curious about what pre-order customers get, we’ve got you covered.

Here’s everything in the kit.

Starter Kit

We’ll start with the biggest package: The Samsung Galaxy S8 Starter Kit which has a whole bunch of stuff.

The most controversial of which would be the wireless fast-charging stand. Why? Well, that’s because this is the old fast-charging wireless stand, not the new one. As a result, you lose the ability to tilt the charging pad and this wireless charger also uses a microUSB port instead of a USB Type-C port.

So, instead of bundling an extra USB Type-C cable with the starter kit, users will get an extra microUSB cable instead.

We don’t think that it’s too big of a deal since both wireless fast-chargers have the same output capacity. Plus, you’re probably going to leave this plugged in at home anyway so the fact that you’re using microUSB instead shouldn’t be too big of a deal either.

It’s also a pity that they didn’t bundle an extra power brick with the wireless charger so you can’t have one just plugged in at home while you bring your main one with you.

Next up you get this clear plastic case plus two regular clear screen protectors as well. Nothing much to see here.

Fast Charging Battery Pack (5,100 mAh)

It’s a fast-charging powerbank. Pretty standard stuff, though you would probably only be able to top up your phone once.

The powerbank is made with some nice matte plastic, though, which should repel fingerprints quite well and it comes with a microUSB cable with a built-in USB Type-C adapter.

Plus it’s got a cool battery level indicator.

The Galaxy S8 itself

And of course, the star of the show — the Samsung Galaxy S8. This one’s in Orchid Grey.

It says 64GB so you don’t forget that it’s no longer 32GB.

That screen still looks absolutely incredible.

One nice thing about Samsung’s new colour schemes this time around is that the colours are a lot more muted. This one for example, has a slightly different hue depending on how you angle it into the light. Here it’s more grey, but in the next photo:

It’s a whole lot more blue.

Here it gives off a steel look.

The metal frame also has a touch of colour.

Around top is the dual SIM tray.

While you’ll find the 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker and USB Type-C port at the bottom.

In the box you get a USB Type-C cable, a fast-charging power brick, an OTG adapter, a USB Type-C adapter, AKG headphones and a set of additional earbuds.

As a whole, Malaysians should feel pretty good about our pre-order deal because we’re getting significantly more goodies than customers from other regions. On top of that, pre-order customers are also getting additional 12-months extended warranty plus one-year screen crack protection for greater peace of mind. Not bad, Samsung Malaysia, not bad at all.
