4G can be considered mainstream in Malaysia. Most major towns in Malaysia are covered and most new smartphones launched in the past 2 years have 4G LTE support as standard. However, there’s one thing that limits users from enjoying the full potential of 4G connectivity and that’s the tiny SIM card.
Surprisingly, there are a lot of Malaysians using newer smartphones but they are still stuck with the old 3G SIM from years ago. To entice its subscribers to make the switch, Maxis is kicking off their RM1 million 3G SIM Swap campaign and yes, that’s RM1,000,000 cash up for grabs.
Swapping your Maxis SIM card is totally free of charge without any contracts. Just request for a swap at your nearest Maxis outlet/dealer and it won’t take more than 5 minutes.
The experience between 3G and 4G is like night and day. No doubt 3G coverage is still wider but on 4G LTE, you’ll experience much faster speeds, less video buffering and stronger indoor coverage. According to Maxis, their 3G coverage covers 94.5% of the population while 4G currently covers 81%.
The RM1,000,000 3G SIM swap campaign runs from 25 April until 21 May 2017. There will be a total of 3 rounds where the 10 winners will be picked by random in each round. According to the FAQ, you’ll be eligible for all 3 rounds if you didn’t win in any previous rounds.
