The Samsung Galaxy S8 with its 5.8″ display is officially priced at RM3,299 while the larger S8+ model with its 6.2″ screen is going for RM3,699. Both feature dual-curve AMOLED Infinity Displays and they come with 64GB of expandable on-board storage. For Malaysia, we are getting 3 colours for now – Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Maple Gold.

As a pre-order promo, Samsung is giving away exclusive goodies worth over RM900. You’ll get a Limited Edition Starter Kit (clear cover, a screen protector, a wireless stand and a USB Type-C cable), a 5,100mAh Battery Pack and Samsung Protection Plus. The protection program comes with 1-year screen crack warranty (one-time replacement) and an extra 1-year extended warranty.

To secure your unit, you’ll need to pay a deposit of RM300 (debit or credit card) on Samsung Malaysia’s Galaxy S8 Pre-order page between 10:00am on 11 April until 11:59pm on 13 April. When submitting your order, you’ll be required to select your preferred colour and pick up location for your new device. The Galaxy S8 will officially be available in Malaysia on 5 May 2017 but those who pre-order can get it a day earlier on 4 May.

Apart from Samsung, there are other pre-order promotions coming from Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Yes. Also participating are e-commerce and on-ground retailers such as Lazada, 11street, Courts Mammoth, Harvey Norman and Senheng.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ pricing are more expensive than the previous models but you’re getting a much larger screen with double the storage capacity. Folks in Singapore are able to pre-order the Galaxy S8/S8+ starting 7 April and it will be available for collection on 22 April 2017. In Singapore, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are priced at S$1,148 (about RM3,632) and S$1,298 (RM4,106) respectively. In terms of pre-order freebies, it looks like we are getting a better deal as Samsung Singapore is only offering a Wireless Charger Convertible worth S$118 while stocks last.

To recap on the specs, the Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8″ display and a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a larger 6.2″ display and a 3,500mAh battery. The rest of the phone are identical on both models with a 10nm Exynos 8895 Octa-Core processor (Snapdragon 835 for US market) that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of storage onboard which is expandable via microSD up to 256GB on its hybrid dual-SIM slot.

In terms of camera, the front gets an updated 8MP f/1.7 shooter with auto-focus while the rear retains a 12MP f/1.7 dual-pixel camera which is similar to the Galaxy S7/Note7. Both models support Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging over USB Type-C as well as wireless charging which supports PMA/WPC standards.
