Xiaomi could be releasing the Redmi Note 4 in Malaysia soon

Xiaomi Malaysia has started teasing a new device for our local market. After releasing the Redmi 4A and Redmi 3S, the next device is likely to be their new Redmi Note 4.

On Mi Malaysia’s Facebook page, they have been showing a couple of teasers with the roman numeral IV, which strongly hints at the Redmi Note 4. If we take a look at our local SIRIM database, the latest Xiaomi smartphone was certified in early January with the model number 2016102. The same model has also passed certification in Indonesian and Singapore.

To recap, the Redmi Note 4 for global markets runs on a Snapdragon 625 processor and it comes with up to 4GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It gets a 5.5″ Full HD display encased underneath a 2.5D glass. Similar to the Redmi Note 3, the new model also gets a unibody metal design and the rear gets a 13MP f/2.0 main camera with PDAF along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. At the front, it comes with a 5MP f/2.0 selfie shooter that’s assisted by a host of beautification features.

Powering the device is a 4,100mAh battery and it comes bundled with a 5V/2A charger. Connectivity wise, it supports dual-SIM with 4G LTE. When the first slot is used for 4G, the secondary slot can support calls on a 3G network. Also supported is VoLTE for clearer voice calls over 4G. If you need more storage, there’s also microSD expansion via its hybrid SIM slot design.

In India, the Redmi Note 4 is priced at 9999INR (about RM667) for the base 2GB RAM + 32GB storage model and it goes up to 12,999INR (about RM867) for the highest spec 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option. We expect the Redmi Note 4 to be priced well under RM1,000 when it launches in Malaysia.
