LG G6’s camera promises to offer high-quality wide-angle shots

There are plenty of dual-camera smartphones in the market. However, LG has been doing things differently by offering a secondary lens dedicated for wide-angle shots. This was first introduced on the LG G5, followed by the LG V20. For their upcoming LG G6 flagship, the Korean smartphone maker will continue this trend but they are stepping things up with a better setup.

On the previous LG G5 and LG V20, both carried a 16MP f/1.8 main camera for normal shots and a secondary 8MP f/2.4 camera for wide-angle. In wide-angle mode, you can capture group shots better with its 135-degree field of view.

Instead of using different pixel count sensors, the new LG G6 will use 13MP shooters for both cameras to ensure high definition images whichever mode you’re on. For wide-angle shots, the LG G6’s camera will be slightly narrower at 125-degree, which LG claims to be similar to a human’s field of view.

To capture wider group selfies, the front will get a 100-degree wide-angle lens. There’s no mention of its front sensor but it could be carrying a 5MP f/1.9 shooter like its current flagship model.

LG is also banging on how its new 18:9 FullVision display would do wonders for photography. With this display aspect ratio, you can take a 1:1 square photo and preview immediately in the next window. The new camera interface will also get a dedicated food mode, 360 panorama photo mode and the ability to create an animated GIF with 2-100 photos.

When it comes with dual-cameras, which smartphone maker does it better? Let us know in the comments below.
