Despite the declining smart watch market, ZTE believes there’s still room for another player. Meet the ZTE Quartz, their first Android Wear smart watch which is expected to make its debut at MWC 2017.
Like most new smart watches, the ZTE Quartz gets a traditional round design with a buckle strap. The actual specs are still unknown but it is said to come with 3G connectivity which allows you to make standalone phone calls from your wrist.
With a number of Android Wear players in the market, ZTE would need to do more to stand out. If it isn’t about new features, the new Quartz has to be priced competitively to gain any significant traction. At the moment, you can easily get a Moto 360 sport for under RM700.
ZTE has made wearables in the past but this would be their first full-blown smart watch that runs on Android’s wearable OS.
