Earlier we’ve seen a leak shot of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8. With the launch just a few months away, serial leakster @onleaks has revealed more details to satisfy your curiosity.
For the first half of 2017, Samsung is expected to release two models, both of which comes with a dual curved AMOLED display. The base Galaxy S8 is said to have a 5.7-5.8 inch display while the bigger Galaxy S8 Plus is purported to come with a 6.1-6.2 inch screen. To ensure that it fits comfortably with a single hand, expect the new Galaxy to have thinner bezels and possibly a 18:9 display aspect ratio like the LG G6.
Probably the biggest change is the removal of its iconic home button that doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. Instead, Samsung would be going for a rear-mounted unit that’s placed next to its main camera. For audio enthusiasts, you’ll be happy to know that Samsung is retaining a 3.5mm headphone jack.
When going into specific dimensions, @onleaks shared that the new Galaxy S8 will have a thinner camera bump at 0.2mm. As a comparison, the Note7’s camera was protruding by 0.8mm while the Galaxy S7 is thicker at 1.0mm. From the side profile, the Galaxy S8 is shown to be slightly thicker at 8.0mm and we hope that’s for a better battery design.
Note that these renders are based on information obtained by @onleaks. While it isn’t official, his renders are historically close to the real deal as seen with the Galaxy Note7 and the S7 edge. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be announced in late March right after MWC 2017. Do you like what you see? Let us know in the comments below.
