Samsung is trying to put the Galaxy Note7 issue to rest by introducing a host of new measures for its design and manufacturing process. With the biggest mobile event taking place end of this month, Samsung has confirmed a press conference for a new device but it isn’t the flagship smartphone you’re looking for.
From the teaser picture above, it is clear that Samsung would be launching a new tablet. Just take a look at the home button versus the width of the device. This is very likely to be their Galaxy Tab S3 which would succeed the Galaxy Tab S2 introduced in 2015.
According to recent leaks, the new tablet would be on par with the current Galaxy S7 smartphones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor mated to 4GB of RAM. The screen is said to be a 9.6-incher that does 2048 x 1536 resolution (similar to iPad with Retina displays) and it will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The new tablet would be ultra-thin at 5.6mm and it would come in both WiFi-only and 4G LTE enabled versions. For optics, it will carry a 12MP main camera and a front-facing 5MP shooter. The event will be held on Sunday, 26 February at 7PM Barcelona Time. That’s 2AM the next day for Malaysia. As usual, there will be a live stream on their website.
Samsung isn’t as aggressive with tablets as before and the last tablet launched was the Galaxy Tab A (2016) which came with an S Pen. Despite the declining tablet market, Samsung still ranks #2 in market share right after Apple. Are you in a rush to replace your existing tablet? Let us know in the comments below.
