Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 uses Snapdragon 625 processor for international markets

Xiaomi has finally announced the Redmi Note 4 for international markets. It was first introduced for the Chinese market back in August 2016.

The new affordable phablet has more refinement with an all metal body along with the use of 2.5D glass in front. Powering the Chinese Redmi Note 4 is a 10-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor but now it’s getting a different processor for international markets.

The global Redmi Note 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core processor. This is the same unit that’s powering the ZenFone 3, OPPO R9s and vivo V5 Plus. While it looks like a step below the Snapdragon 650 processor of the Redmi Note 3, the smaller 14nm process claims to provide 25% longer battery life on its 4,100mAh battery.

There are 3 specs being offered – 2GB RAM + 32GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Like the Redmi Note 3, it supports dual-SIMs and microSD card via its hybrid slot. On the front, the Redmi Note 4 has a 5.5″ Full HD IPS display that pushes a respectable density of 401ppi.

For imaging, the rear gets a 13MP f/2.0 shooter with PDAF. The new 13MP sensor claims to be brighter as it has a 1.12 micron pixel size which is 25% larger than the Redmi Note 3. Meanwhile, the front gets a 5MP f/2.0 camera with beautification features.

In terms of connectivity, it will support 4G LTE with VoLTE (Voice over LTE). You’ll be happy to know that the secondary SIM supports 3G network for calls/SMS. In terms of supported bands, it will work with FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 5 (850MHz) and TDD-LTE Band 40 (2300MHz). It also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and an infrared blaster that you can use as a universal remote.

The Redmi Note 4 will be going on sale first in India at 12PM on 23 January 2017 and it will be available in Dark Grey, Gold and Black colours. The base model with 2GB RAM + 32GB storage is going for INR 9,999 (about RM652) while the mid-tier 3GB RAM + 32GB storage is priced at INR 10,999 (about RM717). The highest variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage is priced at INR 12,999 (about RM848). For more info, you can check out the Redmi Note 4 product page.
