Maxis wants you to plant their ang pows

Chinese New Year is fast approaching and it’s also time for Ang Pow giving. For the year of the rooster, Maxis is adding a green twist to a Chinese tradition that would go a long way.

Most of the time, the traditional red packets are often discarded after use. For an eco-friendly approach, Maxis is introducing biodegradable Ang Pows that could grow throughout the year. These special packets have embedded seeds in them and there’s a space for you to write a special message to your loved ones.

All the receiver needs to do is to tear the empty packet into smaller pieces, soak them in water and bury it under a thin layer of soil. With enough love and care, it should start to grow.

To get the plantable ang pows, just be among the first 300 customers to purchase a phone from the Maxis Online Store. You can also redeem it for free from the MyMaxis Deals (Travel & Services) section in the MyMaxis app. Maxis has also released a short film in conjunction with the Plantable Ang Pow promotion below:
