redONE’s new Amazing Plans offer 20GB of data for RM48/month

Not wanting to be left out, redONE has introduced its new Amazing plans that come with more data than before. The MVNO known for its barebones offering is now providing up to 20GB of data with free calls for under RM50/month.

However, if you take a closer look, the data offering might not be as amazing as you think.

Similar to its previous postpaid offering, the Amazing Plans start from just RM8/month and it comes bundled with 1GB data and free calls (limited to 100 hours) to all redONE users. If you want more, the Amazing 28 postpaid option gives you 10GB of data while Amazing 48 doubles that with 20GB of data.

On the surface, it looks a lot but redONE is splitting its Amazing 28/48 quota with high-speed and basic internet (throttled) allocation. The Amazing 28 gives you 4GB of high-speed 4G data and 6GB of basic internet. Meanwhile, the Amazing 48 plan comes with 8GB of high-speed 4G data and 12GB of basic internet.

Both plans also get free calls to redONE users. On top of that, Amazing 48 gets additional 200 minutes of talk time to all networks (mobile and fixed line) within Malaysia. For excess usage, it would cost RM0.15/minute for calls to other networks, while SMS would cost 5 sen to redONE users and 10 sen for other numbers.

Despite the having bulk of the quota for basic internet, the new plans generally have more high-speed data than before. If you’re looking for the most generous high-speed postpaid offering, Digi could be the better choice with 5GB of high-speed all-day data and 5GB of 4G weekend data at RM50/month.

Take note there’s a 6 months contract period on redONE and could be as long as 24 months if you pick a premium number. For those who are on the redONE Data8 plan, you’re able to upgrade to the Amazing 8 plan. Need more info? Head over to redONE’s Amazing Plans page.
