Pre-order for the Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 (2017) starts next Friday

Samsung Malaysia has officially announced the Galaxy A series for 2017. This is their new mid-range smartphone lineup with flagship features. For the first time, Samsung has also added IP68 dust and water resistance on its Galaxy A series.

The Galaxy A (2017) comes in two variants – the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, which are priced at RM1,699 and RM1,899 respectively. Pre-orders will be available starting next Friday, 6th January at 10:00AM until 15th January 2017 at selected Samsung outlets. As an added bonus, Samsung Malaysia will be giving away a Samsung Level U Pro wireless headphones worth RM399 while stocks last during the exclusive pre-order sale.

The official specs have yet to be revealed and the official Malaysian launch will be happening on 5th January 2017. Samsung Malaysia will be posting more updates on their official Facebook page.

According to the leaked Galaxy A 2017 user manual, the new smartphones will use USB Type-C and it will support both NFC and MST for Samsung Pay across the range. Both the Galaxy A5 and A7 appears to have dual-SIM and a dedicated microSD which is good news for those who need 3 slots.

Similar to the Galaxy S7 and Note7 series, the new A series will also get Always on display which can display the time, calendar and notifications. You can check out the user manual yourself (It’s in Russian) over here.
