Samsung Galaxy A (2017) is launching on 5 January 2017

Samsung Malaysia is kicking off 2017 with the launch of its new Galaxy A series for 2017. This is the 3rd generation of its premium mid-range offering and it will be announced next Thursday on 5 January 2017.

Similar to its previous models, the Galaxy A series would be available in different sizes but so far we’ve only seen leaked renders for the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A5 (2017). As you would expect, the Galaxy A series uses premium metal and glass materials similar to its bigger flagship models.

Looking at the side profile, it gets some design cues from its flagship family especially with its slightly curved glass back. Interestingly, the loud speaker is placed on the right, which is similar to its Galaxy J7 Prime.

In terms of specs, the base Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to get a 4.7″ HD 720p display while running on an Exynos 7870 processor mated to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. For optics, it gets a 13MP main camera and a front-facing 8MP camera.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A5 (2017) gets a larger 5.2″ Full HD display with a better Exynos 7880 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. It even has 16MP cameras for both front and back. Judging from the teaser pics, it looks like the Galaxy A series will be dust and water resistant with IP68 certification. We will be there at the launch so stay tuned for the full spec details and Malaysian pricing.
