After pushing its lineup of selfie smartphones, OPPO is now turning its attention to its main camera. Announced few months ago, the OPPO R9s promises great clarity with 16MP cameras for both front and back.
The main highlight of the OPPO R9s is its 16MP main camera that utilises Sony’s IMX398 sensor. It has a fast f/1.7 lens that would perform better in low light situations. To ensure that you won’t miss a shot, the R9s main camera features dual-PDAF technology which claims to provide 40% faster focus than standard PDAF. For a steadier shot, it is also assisted by electronic image stabilisation.
Over at the front, it gets a 16MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture along with its Beautify 4.0 enhancement feature. It also supports HDR for better selfies in any situation.
In terms of specs, it retains a 5.5″ Full HD display but this time it is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The exterior appearance is similar to its OPPO F1 Plus with a familiar home button that doubles up as a lightning quick fingerprint sensor. Instead of having thick antenna bands, the metal back gets a six-string antenna lines design for optimal 4G and WiFi signal performance.
Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM and it gets 64GB of internal storage. If you need more, it also accepts microSD up to 256GB in capacity. Juicing up the OPPO R9s is a 3,010mAh battery which supports OPPO’s VOOC Flash Charge. Out of the box, it runs on ColorOS 3.0 that’s based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
OPPO Malaysia has yet to provide a specific launch date and it is already on sale in Singapore for S$679 which is about RM2,100. It is likely to be priced lower once it goes on sale in our market.
