Apple AirPods have been delayed, but they will cost you an arm and a leg

You may have heard that Apple’s AirPods have been delayed. If you’ve been waiting to add this to your collection of Apple devices and accessories, then you might be bummed out with having to wait indefinitely.

I, on the other hand, think it’s a good thing because we just found out how much Apple’s highly anticipated wireless earphones cost here in Malaysia. Maybe more time is a good thing since you have longer to save up.

As far as we can tell, these headphones are just wireless Apple EarPods with a fancy case that looks like it should hold dental floss and Apple’s fancy new W1 chip. Apple says that this will deliver intelligent, high-efficiency playback while maintaining a consistent and reliable connection.

It also automatically detects when both AirPods are in your ears, through infrared sensors, so it can play the music automatically when both earpieces are in your ear. What’s more, it’ll auto pair with your phone too, just flip open the case and you’re good to go. Since it comes with a microphone (that’s what the little stem is for) you can also access Siri with a simple double tap on the earbud.

This design does raise some eyebrows, particularly when it comes to how well they can stay in your ears. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, says that they won’t fall out of his ears even when he dances, so that should be reassuring right? Tim says that it’s because there are no wires so there’s nothing pulling the new AirPods downwards.

While Apple didn’t say why they’re delaying the launch, other than the fact that they think it’s not ready yet, my money’s on the fact that one of the AirPods actually did fall out during one of Tim Cook’s intensive dance sessions.

Well, whatever the case is, having one of these little AirPods fall out of your ears into a gutter would not be something you’d want. Why? Well, because a pair of AirPods will cost you RM849.

I don’t know about you, but I can get a lot of headphone for that price.
