Sales of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 have finally come to an end and all units are to be returned back in the interest of safety. After initiating a worldwide recall, the Galaxy Note7 is still having battery issues even on its new “safe” replacement units.
In the US, where the Galaxy Note7 had more prominent incidents, Samsung had distributed a specially designed Note7 Return Kit for safer handling. The kit isn’t your typical courier box and it’s packed up like a Russian doll.
According to XDA Developers, the Galaxy Note7 return kit consists of 3 boxes which also comes with a static shielding bag and a pair of gloves. The outer layer is a DOT-SP 16011 box which has a ceramic fiber lining on the inside, presumably to contain any possible fire. As expected, the box had a warning forbidding air transport and it is strictly for land and vessel shipment only. Also included is an apology note and a step by step packing guide.
All Galaxy Note7 owners including replacement units are urged to power down their device and to contact Samsung or the retail outlet where they have purchased the device for further arrangements. In the US, Samsung is offering a replacement to Galaxy S7/S7 edge (with refund of the price difference) and the option for a full refund. For Malaysia, Samsung will be contacting their customers directly and existing Note7 owners can contact their hotline at 1-800-88-7799 for further enquiries.
UPDATE: Samsung Malaysia is offering full refunds for the Galaxy Note7.
