The ZTE Axon 7 is one of the best smartphones under RM2,000. Here’s why

This post is brought to you by the ZTE Axon 7

The common perception when buying smartphones is that if you want a premium device you will have to pay a premium price. But that’s slowly changing these days with how affordable some premium devices have become.

And then there’s the brand new ZTE Axon 7 — a smartphone that has all the flagship specs that you want (and a little more) for far less than you would expect. Here are 7 awesome features on the Axon 7.

1. It’s got a fantastic build

ZTE’s Axon 7 has an absolutely premium build quality that feels sublime in your hand. It features an all-metal unibody that has been carved with CNC precision and designed in collaboration with BMW Group’s Designworks.

The resulting finish oozes elegance and is also incredibly ergonomic. What will also strike you are the little details like the subtle dimple at the back in which the fingerprint sensor sits as well as the diamond cut chamfers to help with grip.

Everything was built to the highest of standards and you can really feel that when you hold it in your hand.

2. It has flagship-level specs and a gorgeous display

A pretty body would be nothing if the handset itself wasn’t a match for its build. The ZTE Axon 7 definitely doesn’t lack in oomph as it features top of the line specs you’d more commonly find in far more expensive handsets.

First up it’s got a beautiful, sharp and vivid 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display that puts the crisp in crispy. Inside, the handset is powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage.

All of that translates to a buttery and snappy performance no matter what the load.

3. It’s also packing an impressive primary camera

ZTE’s Axon 7 is also packing some serious firepower in the camera department as it comes with a 20-megapixel primary camera. This particular camera unit comes with a fast f/1.8 aperture lens as well as optical and electronic image stabilisation for blur-free images.

Both those image stabilisation technologies also translate to incredibly steady video work, of which the Axon 7 is capable of shooting up to crisp 4K videos at 30fps.

4. Dual front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers

ZTE’s brand new device also has the last word in incredible multimedia consumption experience. This is because, alongside the beautiful 5.5-inch display, the Axon 7 also comes with dual front-facing speakers with Dolby ATMOS and Dolby Digital surround technology.

For headphone lovers, the ZTE Axon 7’s got you covered too with two flagship Hi-Fi chipsets in the AK4961 and AK4490 audio processors for the highest level of audio quality. These chipsets provide up to 32-bit HiFi playback (DAC) and recording (ADC) with amplification.

5. Quick Charge 3.0 and a large battery

To keep up with your busy lifestyle, the ZTE Axon 7 also has a 3,250 mAh large-capacity, high-density battery for long lasting performance. This device also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology for lighting fast charging times via a future-proof USB Type-C port.

6. Is priced under RM2,000

But one of the best parts about this device is the fact that it is priced at just RM1,999. That is incredible value for money considering the specifications and just how premium this handset is. With the Axon 7, you will be getting all the goodies of a far more expensive device at a price that’s a lot easier on your wallet.

7. Premium after-sales protection plan

Traditionally, with good value flagship devices, users don’t get much in the way of after-sales service and protection. That’s usually because manufacturers have to save cost somewhere to keep the prices of the device down.

With the Axon 7, however, there are no such compromises because the handset comes with an industry leading privilege protection plan called the Axon VIP Service. With this, not only do you get a 1+1 year extended warranty, but you will also get a free first-time screen crack repair for the first six months as well as a free first-time water damage repair service for 24 months.

All in all, the ZTE Axon 7 is an incredibly attractive device at an incredibly attractive price point. You’d be hard pressed to get a better device for less, especially one that comes with such a comprehensive after-sales service package.
