Wiko is now top 5 in Western Europe

Wiko, the French based smartphone brand might be new in Malaysia but it has achieved a new milestone in their home region. Established in 2011, Wiko is now ranked number 5 smartphone brand in Western Europe according to Counterpoint Technology market report 2Q-2016.

Prior to this, they had achieved #2 in their home country France within 3 years of establishment. This was followed by achieving #2 in Portugal, #4 in Italy and #5 in Spain and Belgium according to GFK’s July 2016 report. Quite remarkable for a 5-year-old brand that currently has 500 staff with operations in 30 countries.

Part of their success is attributed to its affordable smartphone lineup priced under RM1,000. To stand out from the competition, they had introduced several quirky devices like the Swarovski studded Highway Pure and the glow in the dark Fever smartphone.

To shake up the entry-level segment, they had also introduced the Wiko Ufeel, their most affordable smartphones with a 5 fingerprint sensor. Wiko’s best seller is still their affordable Lenny series that are priced under RM400.
