Probably the most wanted Uber feature is finally here. The driver on demand service is now letting you book rides in advance. So whether you’re catching a flight or heading out for a meeting, you can plan your Uber rides early without breaking a sweat.

At the moment it is only applicable for UberX. If you want to request a larger Uber XL or Uber Black car, you would need to do it the normal way on demand. From the looks of it, the scheduled feature is available only in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. We tried entering other cities/towns in Malaysia but it returned a “Ride scheduling is not available” message.

You can schedule a ride from 15 minutes and up to 30 days in advance. When you enter your location, destination and preferred time, Uber will give you an estimated fare but do note that this isn’t guaranteed as your actual trip may attract a surge during pick up especially if it’s peak hours. Nevertheless, it is still a good way to arrange for trips especially if you’re taking an early flight out. If you haven’t tried it yet, Uber is available for download on iOS, Android and Windows Mobile.
