Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen is now official

Samsung has officially announced its new productivity tablet – the Galaxy Tab A (2016). This replaces the previous Galaxy Tab A that also came with an S Pen stylus.

While the original Galaxy Tab A was more of an entry-level tablet with productivity features baked in, the new one for 2016 is much improved with a more decent display and an improved S Pen with Galaxy Note7 features.

The Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen now gets a 10.1″ 1920×1200 display with a more widescreen display aspect ratio of 16:10. Under the hood, it runs on an Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage which is expandable with microSD up to 256GB. It also has 4G LTE connectivity via SIM card along with support for telephony features.

As a productivity tablet, the S Pen carries over some of the new features from the Galaxy Note 7. This includes screen off memo which allows you to jot notes instantly while the screen is off and instant S-Pen hover over text translations. You also get your usual screen on drawing and the ability to create GIFs from any video.

For taking pictures, it has an 8MP main camera and a front-facing 2MP shooter. The Galaxy Tab A (2016) is powered by a rather large 7,300mAh battery which is rated to last up to 14 hours of internet usage or 13 hours of video playback. Out of the box, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Galaxy Tab A (2016) with S Pen is priced at 489,000 Korean Won which is about RM1,794. It is currently available in Korea and there’s no word of it being released internationally.
