The 6.44″ Xiaomi Mi Max is now in Malaysia

If you’re looking for something big, the Xiaomi Mi Max is finally here in Malaysia. This is the largest Xiaomi smartphone yet and it comes with a massive 6.44″ full HD display.

For Malaysia, we are only getting the base model which is quite similar to the Redmi Note 3. Priced at RM999, it comes with a Snapdragon 650 processor with 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of onboard storage. For the higher spec model, it gets a more capable Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Despite its “Mi” flagship name, it also comes with microSD expansion which supports up to 128GB.

As expected with a device this large, it gets a high capacity 4,850mAh battery which should probably last more than a day. For taking pictures, it gets a 16MP f/2.0 main camera with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF while the front sports a 5MP f/2.0 shooter with an 85-degree wide angle lens.

The Mi Max is a dual-SIM 4G device and it has a hybrid SIM tray slot that accepts both nano and Micro-SIM. If you’re planning to use a microSD card, that would occupy one of the slots. Also included is a fingerprint scanner and an infrared blaster. In terms of 4G support, it will support FDD LTE in Band 1/3/5/7 and TD-LTE in Band 38/39/40/41 along with VoLTE. If you’re wondering, it does support Yes 4G.

Similar to the Xiaomi Mi 5, it won’t be sold on the official Mi Store. Instead, it will be available in stores via distributor Thorus and you can also get it online through Lazada Malaysia beginning 3rd September. Telco bundling will also be available with Digi, Celcom and YES. So just how big is the Mi Max? Here’s a picture of it with a 5.7″ Nexus 6P on top.
