Acer has also unveiled its brand new Swift series of notebooks which focuses on portability. The Acer Swift 7 is their top of the line model and it’s currently the thinnest laptop at only 9.98mm while weighing just 1.1kg. This is the first laptop to go under 1cm thick. As a comparison, the already crazy thin HP Spectre 13 has a thickness of 10.4mm and it weighs 1.16kg.
The Acer Swift 7 gets an all aluminium unibody design with black and gold tone colours while the 13.3″ Full HD IPS display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, it gets a 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor with up to 8GB of RAM and has 256GB of SSD storage.
For faster connectivity, it has 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO WiFi along with dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports for file transfers, external display and charging. Above the display, it also gets a HD webcam that features HDR for clearer video conferencing. The onboard battery is rated to last up to 9 hours which is quite short when compared to the rest of the Swift series. The Swift 7 will be available starting in September from US$999 (about RM4,082).
If you don’t mind the slight bulk, the Acer Swift 5 has a 14″ Full HD display and it runs on a 7th gen Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor. It comes with either 4GB or 8GB RAM onboard along with SSD storage options up to 512GB. Boasting up to 13 hours of battery life, the Acer Swift 5 is 14.58mm thick while weighing a respectable 1.36kg. It also gets a touch of premium with brushed metal surfaces and diamond cut accents. The Swift 5 is priced from US$749 (about RM3,060)
Meanwhile, the Swift 3 is focused on the affordability with a 14″ Full HD (1920×1080)/HD (1366z768) display with a either 6th/7th gen Core i3/i5/i7 processors. It also comes with either 4GB or 8GB RAM onboard with SSD storage up to 512GB. It weighs 1.5kg with a thickness of 17.95mm. The battery life is rated up to 10 hours for the Full HD version and up to 12 hours for the HD panel.
Price for the Swift 3 starts from US$499 (about RM2,039)
The Acer Swift 1 is their entry level laptop with a 14″ HD display and it runs on Intel Pentium/Celeron. It gets 4GB of RAM with eMMC storage up to 128GB. It boast a battery life up to 12 hours while weighing 1.6kg. The Acer Swift 1 is going from US$249 which is slightly above RM1,000.
