HyppTV is Malaysia’s first IPTV operator to showcase 4K content

In conjunction with the on-going Rio 2016 Olympic Games, TM is having a HyppTV 4K Experience zone at Sunway Pyramid. As Malaysia’s official IPTV broadcaster of the games, TM wants to offer a unique viewing experience where the general public can watch the games in 4K quality between 9 to 23 August.

Delivering 4K content over HyppTV is made possible with Huawei as their technology partner. The partnership will enable TM to develop its 4K broadcast capability and deliver Ultra HD content through UniFi’s fibre optic network.

HyppTV currently delivers Live TV channels and VOD content in full HD (1920×1080) resolution. As a comparison, 4K (Ultra HD) will deliver 4 times the resolution (3840×2160) which offers greater details, higher frame rates, and better sound quality.

As Malaysia’s official IPTV broadcaster of the games, they are offering HyppTV subscribers access to all 42 Rio 2016 events between 21 July to 2 September 2016. You can watch it on the 7 dedicated HD Rio 2016 channels at 720-726. On top of that, you can rewatch the playback on the HyppTV interactive channel by hitting the “i” button on the remote.

At the moment, HyppTV has a total of 114 channels including 53 channels in HD quality. They consist of 45 premium channels, 33 free channels, 5 radio channels, 8 VOD (Video on Demand) and 23 interactive channels. If you’re on the move, you can also enjoy their content on HyppTV Everywhere or HyppPlay. In case you didn’t know, watching the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Live is free on the HyppTV Everywhere app, which is available on both Google Play and AppStore.

For home consumers, TM says they are rolling out HyppTV 4K in phases without giving any specific timeline. To enable this, you’ll need a new modem and a new box set plus a minimum speed of 25Mbps just for IPTV. Just like its current HD offering, 4K is very much depended on the content available.

To experience HyppTV in 4K, you can check out the experiential zone located at the water feature area on the Ground Floor of Sunway Pyramid.
