If you’re holding back for a new iPhone, you would need to wait for another 2 months. According to serial leakster @evleaks, the next iPhone (aka iPhone 7) will be released by the middle of September.
Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th.

In a follow-up tweet, Evan says that 16th September would be the release date, which is when people can actually get their hands on the new iPhone. Based on previous releases at first wave countries, Apple would open pre-orders a week before and that’s usually a few days after its official announcement.
When the iPhone SE was announced on the 22 March, it was open for pre-order on 24 March. It then became available in first wave markets including Singapore on 31 March 2016. Eventually it went on sale in Malaysia on 13 May.
Apple’s biggest rival, Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Note7 next week. To stay ahead, Samsung could be releasing the Galaxy Note7 faster than before. In Malaysia, Maxis already has started its registration of interest while stores in Dubai are already accepting bookings with free 128GB microSD card thrown in.
Interestingly, Evan isn’t calling the next iPhone as the iPhone 7. Could Apple be pulling yet another “iPhone SE”? Or are they going to experiment with a new naming convention for its next phone? We’ll find out more as we head closer towards September. Since Malaysia isn’t really a key market for Apple, we would assume its arrival could be sometime in November.
