Samsung Galaxy Note7 official launch is on 2 August 2016

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note7 will be unveiled officially on 2 August 2016. Similar to last year, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in New York City. On top of that, they will be having simultaneous launch events at Rio de Janeiro and London.

As usual, the event will be streamed live on Samsung’s website and it’s happening at 11:00AM EDT, which is 11:00PM Malaysia Time (GMT+8) on Tuesday, 2 August.

With regards to the Galaxy Note7 name, some might be wondering why there isn’t a Note6? According to Samsung, there are a couple of reasons for this. The first reason is that the Galaxy Note7 will complement its current Galaxy S7 and S7 edge line up. In addition, this would also minimise confusion to ensure full alignment with its Galaxy S smartphone series. So for next year, we should be seeing a more standardised Galaxy S8, S8 edge and Note8 line up.

Ahead of its official launch, the next Galaxy Note7 has been revealed rather extensively thanks to several leaks online. From what we’ve seen, the Galaxy Note7 will still retain a 5.7″ Quad HD display but it gets a more refined design that follows closely with the existing Galaxy S7/S7 edge. Some of the new things to expect include an Iris scanner, USB Type-C, expandable microSD storage (with a possibility of UFS), water resistance and a new TouchWiz interface.

For those who complain 32GB isn’t enough, the Galaxy Note7 is said to come with at least 64GB of storage. This might also drive the Galaxy Note7 price upwards from the Galaxy Note5 that carried a RM2,699 price tag.

With Malaysia as a key market, you can probably expect the Galaxy Note7 to arrive on our shores within a month from its Unpacked event. If you’re an existing Galaxy Note user, are you looking forward to this? Let us know in the comments below.
