Malaysians could get the OnePlus 3 officially in August

UPDATE: OnePlus 3 is officially priced at RM1,888 in Malaysia.

Eyeing for the OnePlus 3 but rather not spend RM2,000 for an imported set? We’ve got some good news for you.

According to Ruta Klyvyte, the Business Development Manager over at OnePlus, the latest OnePlus 3 could be hitting the Malaysian market in August, which is just a month away. OnePlus is said to be working closely with distributor Brightstar which is the same arrangement as before. That also means you can get the OnePlus 3 at lower prices and that includes an official warranty.

In the US, it is going for US$399 (about RM1,594) while in China, it is priced at 2499CNY (about RM1,492). We are not sure if it will be exclusive first with Maxis but one thing’s for sure, there won’t be any dreaded invite system as before.

To recap on the specs, the OnePlus 3 gets a 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED display that’s toughen with Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, it runs on a Snapdragon 820 processor with a huge 6GB of RAM. There’s 64GB of on-board storage that isn’t expandable.

For imaging, it gets a 16MP f/2.0 Sony IMX298 main camera with OIS, PDAF and it supports 4K video recording. For the front, the OnePlus 3 comes with an 8MP f/2.0 shooter that’s capable of recording Full HD videos.

Powering the device is a 3,000mAH battery that charges up with USB Type-C. For faster charge, the OnePlus 3 gets Dash Charge which claims to do over 60% charge in just 30 minutes. In terms of connectivity, it supports Cat 6 4G LTE, 802.11ac WiFi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2. Like the OnePlus 2, it also supports Dual-SIM with its dual Nano-SIM tray.

It is also worth pointing out that the ASUS ZenFone 3 will be launched in Malaysia next month. If you’re in the market for a flagship, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe is looking pretty good with its expected starting price under RM2,000.
