Say hello to Android Nougat

Google has finally revealed on Snapchat that the latest version of Android, also known as Android N, will be called Android Nougat.

This comes after Google announced during their developer conference that they were open to receiving name suggestions from the public. But, to avoid a repeat of Boaty McBoatface, Google also said that the final decision on the name would be made by the search engine giant, not a public poll.

Deep down, many of us in the office already knew that it was going to be Android Nougat (pronounced new-gut (American) or naw-get (English)), considering Android’s naming trend follows sweet treats in an alphabetical order.

Sure there were moments where we thought it might be Android Naan (one can hope right?), but Nougat was pretty much in the lead the whole time.

With Android Nougat, Google are bringing a whole bunch of improvements to their already established mobile operating system. Stuff like new notifications and notification panels, new settings menu and a brand new way of multitasking. If you’d like to see what we think are some of the coolest features of Android Nougat, check out the video below!

Android Nougat is expected to drop sometime soon alongside Google’s new VR platform, Daydream.
