UPDATE: HTC 10 is officially priced at RM2,799 in Malaysia.
HTC’s greatest, the 10 appears to be coming to Malaysia very soon. The all metal flagship has just passed our local SIRIM certification and we hope it shouldn’t take too long for it to go on sale.
The HTC 10 is all about craftsmanship with its metal unibody design that now has a more prominent chamfered edges. Being a flagship, it gets Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 820 processor mated to 4GB of RAM along with storage options of either 32GB or 64GB on-board. The screen gets a decent sized 5.2″ Quad HD display which uses a Super LCD5 panel.
For taking pictures, HTC is stepping up its game with its new 12MP UltraPixel 2 main camera that’s paired with a faster f/1.8 lens. It is further assisted with OIS, Laser AF and a dual-tone LED light. For better light sensitivity, it boasts a larger pixel size of 1.55 micron, which is similar to the Nexus 6P. The camera capabilities does sound promising especially with DxoMark giving it the same score as the S7 edge. For the front, it also gets a 5MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and it is also assisted with OIS for steadier selfies.
In the audio department, HTC still gets BoomSound but it is different from the ones you’ve heard before. Instead of a pair of front facing speakers, the HTC 10 uses both the earpiece and the down firing speaker for audio. With the latest change, HTC is still calling this the best BoomSound yet.
The HTC 10 will get the latest Android Marshmallow out of the box and the new HTC Sense interface has a couple of new tricks including a new freestyle layout. Keeping the lights on is a respectable 3,000mAh battery which is bigger than its predecessors. In the US, the HTC 10 is priced at USD699, which about RM2,850 in our local currency. Looking at how HTC is pricing the HTC One A9, expect this to be priced close to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.
