The Asus Transformer 3 series looks a lot like Microsoft’s Surface

Looks like Asus has just revealed what looks like their very own Surface machine, with the Asus Transformer 3 series convertible tablets taking a lot of inspiration from Microsoft’s own popular device.

The two new 2-in-1 PCs are none other than the Asus Transformer 3 and Transformer 3 Pro, the latter being the one that looks the most like the Surface. Down to the little kickstand at the back.

Both machines will be sporting a 12.6-inch display, USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 as well as fingerprint scanners; on top of HDMI and USB 3.0 ports of course. They will also come with Windows 10 out of the box and will ship with their own keyboard covers respectively. But this is pretty much where the similarities end as the two will be sporting a different set of specs.

Under the hood, the Transformer 3 is home to an Intel Core i7 (7th Gen) with up to 8GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage. It’s also the thinner of the two Transformers, measuring in at 6.9mm.

As for the Transformer 3 Pro, it’s a wee bit chunkier than the Transformer 3 at 8.35mm thickness. For specs, it has a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor as well, mated to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD.

The Asus Transformer 3 will retail starting at $799 and the Transformer 3 Pro will start at $999. No idea when they will be hitting the local market but we can only hope it’s revealed soon.
