The first ASUS Strix gaming laptop is now available locally, with the compact gaming laptop having enough oomph to run your games while still keeping skinny.
Gaming laptops tend to be of one thing, if not just rather powerful, and that is being famous for their bulk. The Asus Strix GL502 is a 15.6-inch laptop that manages to go thinner and is a fair bit lighter than your average gaming notebook.
Under the hood, you’ll find a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ 970M GPU and 16GB RAM; which can be further pumped up to 32GB if you want more speed. The notebook is also home to a 1TB hard drive, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and one lonely USB Type-C port. As for the display, you get a 15.6-inch UHD display with in-plane switching, 178-degree viewing angle as well as a non-glare surface.
As for keeping the whole rig cool, the Strix GL502 has its own copper pipe and dual fan system to keep your components chill. Not sure how loud it would be but since it keeps the CPU and GPU cool independently, definitely a bonus. Let’s not forget that the notebook also has the prerequisite backlit keys, with the ever important WASD keys highlighted.
Of course, what truly makes the notebook special is its weight and girth. Weighing in at 2.2kg, the laptop is also just 23.5mm “tall”, making it quite slim as far as gaming notebooks go.
The Asus Strix GL502VT is available from authorised Asus dealers and retails for RM 6,999.
