We finally have some information on Xiaomi’s long awaited sequel to the Mi Pad, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2. Someone who was in possession of a prototype Mi Pad 2 put it through Geekbench and the results reveal some of the Mi Pad 2’s internals.
The Mi Pad 2 appears to be running a quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z850 CPU clocked at 2.24 GHz and 2GB of RAM. The tablet seems to be running on Android 5.1 Lollipop, though we can hope that when this tab eventually gets launched it would be running Android M.
Intel’s Atom X5-Z850 supports a 2k display so it could be possible that the new Mi Pad 2 will have a 2k display. Other rumours put the Mi Pad 2 at 7.9 inches with a 2048×1536 touchscreen and 16GB of internal storage. Some also suggest that the tablet would have two storage variants and come with a 13-megapixel camera and an all metal body.
It’s predecessor, the Mi Pad, runs a quad-core 2.2 GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset with 2GB of RAM. Read more about the Mi Pad here.
