The latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus duo has been spotted in our Malaysian SIRIM database. This is an indication that Apple is preparing to bring their latest smart phones into Malaysia. But the question is when exactly?
As certified under SIRIM, Malaysia will be getting the A1687 and A1688 models which covers a wide range of LTE bands in both FDD and TDD standards. Apart from the new iPhones, the latest Apple TV with its Bluetooth remote has been spotted with the model number A1625. Also getting the green light is the new iPad mini 4 with both A1538 (WiFi) and A1550 (WiFi + Cellular) making an appearance. So far there’s no sign of the iPad Pro which is expected to hit the market globally in November.
To refresh your memory, the iPhone 6s and its larger 6s Plus is the biggest iPhone refresh we’ve seen so far. While the exterior looks the same except for its new rose gold colour, the newer iPhone gets toughen with a better aluminium 7000 material while the screen gets 3D touch.
Under the hood, it runs a newer A9 chip and 2GB of RAM, which is double the amount of its predecessor. For taking pictures, it finally gets a bump to 12MP, which is the first camera upgrade since the iPhone 4S. The front camera is now a 5MP shooter and you can use the Retina display for selfie illumination in low light situations. You can read more about it in our iPhone 6s announcement post.
In terms of iPhone 6s local availability, we probably need to wait for sometime in November like last year’s iPhone 6. Our southern neighbour Singapore has commenced its pre-orders last week with actual shipping to start next Friday. If you want to get one, it will cost at least RM3,200 for the 16GB in Singapore, no thanks to current exchange rates. The new iPhone 6s does shoot 4K videos and we strongly advise you not to take the 16GB version if you plan on recording videos a lot.
As for the Apple Watch, there’s still no news until today and if you want to get one, it is already available in both Thailand and Singapore.
