ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser pops up on SIRIM in timely fashion

The month of August has been a busy one for ASUS – considering we’ve seen two tablets, the ZenPad C 7.0 and ZenPad 7.0 and the Zenfone Selfie phone soon to be launched during the Merdeka weekend. ASUS doesn’t seem to be slowing down, as the Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KG) has been spotted on SIRIM Malaysia’s database, meaning a fourth device could be soon announced by the mobile computing company.

Appearing in SIRIM’s list could mean that ASUS could discretely be planning a joint event to release two (or more) devices at one time. ASUS’ ZE500KG model is mainly a mid-ranger that sports a 5-inch HD 720p display with a 1.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 410, under the hood. Multitasking will be handled by the 2GB of RAM and storage comes in either 8GB or 16GB of expandable memory.

Maintaining its namesake, the Laser will offer a laser auto-focus system coupled with its 8-megapixel rear shutter at a f/2.0 aperture and PixelMaster technology. Making your way up front, you’ll be surprised with the budget smart phone having a 5-megapixel f/2.0 selfie shooter. Powering all this will be the 2,070 mAh battery and it’ll come with a ZenUI skinned version of Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

No surprises here, as the budget friendly model in the Laser series only supports 3G HSPA+ in its dual-SIM connectivity compatibility. How much will this wallet friendly device cost? It’ll likely be around RM 400 – RM 500, as the higher end phone around RM 631 (converted from India’s sale price) for the ZE550KL model of the same phone.

We’ll update everyone as we know more but be sure to stay tuned cause it won’t be long following the SIRIM listing.
