The Xperia C5 Ultra is Sony’s latest selfie-centric phablet that comes with a near bezel-less design. While it shares the same internals as the Xperia C4, the C5 Ultra gets a larger 6.0″ Full HD display and a higher resolution 13MP camera upfront for better selfies.
Its pricing wasn’t revealed during its announcement but now it has appeared on Sony’s Hong Kong store with the retail price tag of HK$3,298. This comes out to about RM1,653 with our current exchange rate. All 3 colours are being offered with stocks to be available beginning on 14th August.
The Xperia prices in Hong Kong are considerably higher than Malaysia. For example the Xperia Z3+ Dual which is priced RM2,599 here is sold at HK$5698 (about RM2,856) in Hong Kong. If the Xperia C5 Ultra gets here, we reckon it could hover around the RM1,500-RM1,600 range.
The closest competitor that offers 13MP cameras for both front and back would be the Desire EYE which is priced at RM1,699. As comparison, the Desire EYE is a smaller 5.2 incher but it gets water resistance rated at IPX7 and the front also comes with a dual-tone LED flash.
