Here are more hands-on photos of the Galaxy Note 5

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 continues to pose for the camera ahead of its official launch next week. For those who are clueless about how the next flagship phablet would look like, the folks at Droid-Life has gotten a fresh batch of hands-on pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Nothing has changed from what we’ve seen earlier as it gets a metal frame with glass on both sides just like the Galaxy S6. At the back, it gets a sloping curve on both edges which is similar to the Xiaomi Mi Note’s 3G Glass for its back. As expected from Samsung, the new Galaxy Note 5 lacks a microSD slot and a removable battery, just like most flagships today. For the Malaysian market, we are expected to receive a dual-SIM version which is good news for those with multiple telco subscriptions.

Looking at the bottom, the S-Pen sits flush with the metal frame, which leads us to believe that it will offer a push to eject mechanism. It is worth pointing out that the S-Pen is now placed on the right, instead on the left side like its previous generations. From the screen above, Samsung has updated the new TouchWiz interface for the S-Pen and it looks like you could customise the shortcuts that appears when the S-Pen is taken out from its slot. Looking at the top. the infrared blaster appears to have been omitted and this could be bad news for those relying on their phones as a universal remote.

The bottom of the Note 5 is the same the Galaxy S6 with a headphone jack and a drilled speaker grill. There’s no fancy USB Type C connector as it retains the usual microUSB 2.0 port with adaptive fast charging supported. We also expect the Galaxy Note 5 to support wireless charging natively without extra cases, just like the S6.

To recap on the specs, the Galaxy Note 5 is predicted to carry the same Exynos 7420 Octa-Core processor as the Galaxy S6, but it gets 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with storage options starting from 32GB. The camera is likely to carry the same 16MP + 5MP camera combo and keeping the lights on is said to be a 3,000mAh capacity unit, which is even smaller than the Galaxy Note II (3,100mAh).

The Galaxy Note 4 was launched in Malaysia at RM2,499 and judging from the Galaxy S6 RM2,599 retail price, do expect to fork out more for a Note 5 this year. Hopefully it isn’t as insane as the iPhone 6 Plus that starts from RM3,126 for a mere 16GB of storage.
