Sony launches the Xperia C5 Ultra – attempting to create a new market segment, better than the mid-range but not overly premium. The newest of the Sony line-up empathises innovations in the camera, design, and battery performance area of the device. Sony hopes to cement its place in the PROselfie category with the front and back 13-megapixel sensor and its near borderless 6-inch full HD display will aim to bring images that seem true to life.
Offering the PROselfie feature akin to the C series, the Xperia C5 Ultra takes advantage of its twin 13-megapixel front and rear camera. Both shutters does auto focus and will include Sony’s signature Exmor RS sensor, HDR for stunning high-resolution pictures and video. Enhancing the PROselfie option is the Selfie Flash that is supported by the front camera: making sure there is enough light in the shot to showcase every inch of the photograph. The lenses mentioned are also 22mm wide-angle lens, so it will be easier to cram more in each frame.
The same images and video will be displayed on the huge 6-inch IPS display that is capable of Full HD and capitalises on Sony’s BRAVIA Engine 2, leaving the near borderless display fully ready to handle the most intrinsic detail in stills and videos. Coming in a variety of colours: black white and glossy soft mint, each has its own individual flare but all adorn an aluminium frame that allows the device to be sleek, stylish and ergonomic.
Attesting to the “super mid-range” title, the Xperia C5 Ultra is no slouch in the processing area either, running a 1.7 GHz MediaTek Octa-core processor that is mated with 2 GB RAM and LTE enabled. The 2930 mAh battery is rated to last up to 7 hours and 47 minutes of video playback and users can further push their battery life with Ultra STAMINA mode. Memory hogs can take advantage of the expandable memory option, up to 200GB and the Sony device will be available in both single and dual SIM variants.
Expect to see the huge-screened Xperia C5 Ultra available in selected countries around the globe from mid-August onwards. We look forward to those PROselfie shots from everyone.
