The Malaysian prepaid scene is getting some serious shake up as U Mobile has introduced its new POWER prepaid plan with heaps of free internet. Putting an end to the atrocious pay per use internet charges, the new U Mobile prepaid offers free basic internet just like other prepaid rivals. So there’s no more reason to panic over missing credit if you accidentally surf online without an active prepaid plan.

The good stuff doesn’t just end there as POWER prepaid offers the most generous high-speed internet in the market. Following Celcom’s hyped #MagicSIM offering that comes with 10MB of free high speed internet for every RM1 you top up, U Mobile has up the ante with 1GB of free high-speed every month for life. All you’ll need to do is to top up RM10 one-time with the new SIM Pack and this is valid for registrations before 31st Dec 2015.

What’s in the SIM Pack?

The new U Mobile SIM Pack costs RM8.50 and inside it comes with RM5 credit preloaded. Upon activation, you’ll get 200MB of internet and 150 minutes of free calls within U Mobile. By default, the SIM pack comes with 10 days validity. In term of rates, it will cost 10sen/minute (30 seconds block) for voice calls and 8 sen per SMS to all networks. On top of that, U Mobile is offering 450 minutes of free calls to your friends and family who are on U Mobile’s network each month. This is given as a daily 15 minute free call quota during its active period.

U Mobile Data Top Up Options

For those who need more than 1GB of data each month, you can top up more with its UMI bundles that are priced as follows:

UMI 20 – 500MB – RM20/month
UMI 25 – 1GB – RM25/month
UMI 30 – 1.5GB – RM30/month
UMI 38 – 1GB + 30SMS + 150min calls – RM38/month
UMI 50 – 3GB – RM50/month

Even if you don’t top up, you can still continue to surf with no extra charge but speeds will be throttled. Existing U Mobile prepaid customers can make the switch starting 1st August but it will cost RM3. Overall it is an affordable plan for light to medium usage users. Will you be making the switch?
