The Galaxy A8 which is Samsung’s thinnest smart phone right now is heading to Malaysia very soon. Launching on 30th July to be exact, the Galaxy A8 offers a phablet size experience with a 5.7″ Full HD display and it comes with a Galaxy S6 inspired design.
The front display is a Full HD Super AMOLED unit that pushes a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and underneath, it gets an Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM, which is similar to its Galaxy A7 sibling. Internally it gets either 16GB or 32GB of on-board storage which can be extended with microSD.
The main camera is a 16MP f/1.9 shooter which is a big upgrade over the previous Galaxy A7, while the front camera has a 5MP unit that supports wide selfies. Double tapping on the home button at anytime will automatically launches the camera app, just like the Galaxy S6. It is also worth pointing out that the home button also comes with a fingerprint scanner that unlocks with a single touch.
Despite its 5.9mm side profile it packs a rather generous 3,050mAh battery capacity which is a huge upgrade over the Galaxy A7. Like most new devices, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the latest TouchWIZ on top. The Galaxy A8 could be priced at RM1,888 and we’ll find out more for sure from the launch next week.
