Intel and SNS Network today has announced the arrival of its affordable JOI 7 Lite and JOI Phone 5. Both are powered by Intel’s Atom x3 processors which promises performance and excellent battery life at a lower price range.
The JOI 7 Lite tablet is priced at RM299 while the JOI Phone 5 is offered at RM399 and they will be available at major AEON department stores, participating reseller stores as well as online channels including Gloo.com.my, Lazada.com.my and Lelong.com.my.
The JOI Phone 5 is a 5″ smart phone with a decent HD 720p IPS display and it runs on Intel’s Atom x3-C3130 (SoFIA 3G) processor. It gets 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage which is expandable up to 32GB extra using microSD. It also gets a 8MP main + 2MP front cameras, as well as your typical WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G connectivity with dual-SIM standby. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and powering the device is a 2,100mAh capacity battery.
The JOI 7 Lite shares similar underpinnings as the JOI Phone 5 but it gets a larger 7″ IPS display which pushes a 1024×600 resolution. It also gets the same Intel Atom x3 powerhouse with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage with microSD support. However its camera settles for a rather basic 2MP shooter for the back and a front facing VGA camera.
The JOI 7 Lite tablet also supports phone calls and SMS, and it also comes with dual-SIM slots with 3G like its JOI Phone 5. Keeping the lights on is a 2,600mAh capacity battery. In terms of build, both devices feel quite plasticky but you really can’t complain for what it packs with such a low price tag.
