LG has just announced a new, music centric mobile phone and its an Android machine called the LG Band Play. The mid-range smartphone is marketed towards music lovers mainly due to having a 1-watt speaker out back that apparently delivers a lot more kick than your average smartphone speaker.

The device was just unveiled in South Korea and under the hood it features a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor mated to 2GB RAM and 16GB expendable memory. The camera combo you get here is a pretty standard one, with a 13 megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus as well as a 5 megapixel wide angle camera for the selfies with gesture shot support.

It will also have a 5-inch display at 720 x 1280 resolution, 2,300mAh removable battery and run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. As a bonus, buyers will also get a pair of LG QuadBeat 3 earphones with the unit. Of course it cannot hold a candle to its ultra premium cousin the LG G4, but it has decent enough specs to keep the average person happy.

The LG Band Play will be retailing for 394,800 KRW (that’s about RM 1336) and will come in two flavours, black and white. So far there isn’t any word whether or not we might be getting the smartphone locally or if it will be a Korea exclusive.
